Preview: The Bilderberg Group

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries."

-David Rockefeller, speaking at the 1991 Bilderberg meeting in Baden, Germany

Wow. If David's last quote didn't get you thinking, I hope this one did. Did you know that Dan Quayle, then Vice-President to George H.W. Bush was there listening? More interesting, did you know that the next President of the United States, Bill Clinton was there, too? So who are the Bilderbergs? What is David's "plan for the world," anyway? Even scarier is his assumption that, "The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries." Translation: a world governed by people who are richer and "smarter" that you is better than one ruled by the people. Before I read this quote I admit I still had my doubts that any of the freedoms I enjoy were under any real threat. After I read it, I realized I needed to look into this a little further. So the question remains: who are the Bilderbergs?
Their story starts with a Polish politician named Jozef Hieronim Retinger. A leading proponent of European unification, he played a major part in founding the Council of Europe and the European Movement, which later led to the European Union, or the EU. After World War II, Jozef believed it was necessary for Europe and America to be brought closer together by reaching a better understanding of each others cultures. He brought his ideas to Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, who shared his beliefs. Prince Bernhard contacted some major players in America, including David Rockefeller, Walter Bedell Smith (head of the CIA), and Charles Douglas Jackson, President Eisenhower's adviser on psychological warfare. The first Bilderberg meeting was attended by fifty top Europeans and eleven delegates from the U.S., including Rockefeller and Charles D. Jackson. Prince Bernhard served as Chairman of the meetings until 1976, when his part in the Lockheed affair was revealed. (Lockheed had received $195 million in government bailout money before it was revealed they had bribed foreign officials to guarantee contracts for their newest fighter plane.) Bernhard had accepted $1.1 million in bribes from Lockheed. Among the Bilderberg members who accepted bribes were Franz Josef Strauss of West Germany and Mariano Rumor of Italy. Another notable name in the matter was Adnan Khashoggi, a Saudi arms dealer, who received $106 million in commissions from Lockheed bribes over a five year period, essentially serving as their go-between with major Middle-Eastern countries. His commission started at 2.5% and eventually went as high as 15%. Even at a 5% commission rate it's safe to say that at least $2 billion of Lockheed money went through Khashoggi from 1970 to 1975. Keep his name in mind; he comes up later in connection with the Bilderberg Group.
Whether or not the original Bilderberg meetings were truly intended to serve the innocent purpose of bringing the U.S. and Europe closer together is debatable. At best, they were started and attended by crooked politicians who stole funds straight out of the U.S. treasury. The way they set up the meetings is simple, but genius. There's no official membership of the Bilderberg Group, since it only meets once a year and is attended mostly by different delegates each time. Every "member" is known as a "member of the Steering Committee." Then there is a separate group within the organization which serves as an advisory board, comprising different official posts, but who are all members of the Steering Committee. At their yearly meeting, they hold several conferences which are attended by different levels of the organization (i.e. one meeting would comprise of all the Steering Committee; one later in the day might comprise of only the advisory board, or the addition of select Steering Committee members.) This way information discussed is withheld on a need-to-know basis.
The Bilderberg meetings are so secretive that no members of the press are allowed in and they hold no press conference, while high-ranking media moguls are in attendance every year. Thus no word gets out, which is probably why you had no idea David Rockefeller was speaking in secret to the next president, the vice-president, and over a hundred top world officials about a government run by "an intellectual elite and world bankers."  Here's a short list of some prominent Bilderberg attendees:

Joseph E. Johnson (1954), President of The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
Henry Kissinger (1957, 1964, 1966, 1971, 1973, 1974, 1977, 2008, 2010), Former Secretary of State
Gerald Ford (1964, 1966), President of the United States (1974-1977)
Paul Volcker (1982, 1983, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1997), former Chairman of the Federal Reserve
Prince Charles (1986), Prince of Wales
Gordon Brown (1991), Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (2007-Present)
Bill Clinton (1991), then governor; President of the United States (1993-2001)
Tony Blair (1993), Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (1997-2007)
Colin Powell (1997), Former Secretary of State
John Edwards (2004), Senator
Timothy Geithner (2009), Treasury Secretary
Bill Gates (2010), Chairman of Microsoft

There's some names you probably recognize. There's many more you probably don't, who hold positions of power all around the world. I'll get into the Bilderbergs in a lot more depth later: this is kind of a preview.  If you don't believe this organization actually exists, feel free to check out their website: www.bilderbergmeetings.org You won't find much there, except some proof that, yes, they're real. Let's read that Rockefeller quote again and see how far away from the truth it sounds now...

Hang in there while I give you some background on David's other behind-the-scenes organizations. Trust me, this is just starting to get interesting...

The Quote That Got Me Started

“Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure – one world, if you will. If that is the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.”

-David Rockefeller, in his own book, Memoirs

That's where I got started. I stumbled across that quote online and couldn't get it out of mind. At the time, I didn't really know too much about any of the Rockefellers. I'll get into a little more detail about some family history later. For now I want to focus on David and something he says in this quote: "a secret cabal... conspiring with others around the world." So I looked into some organizations David has been a part of and what I found got me thinking I needed to look into this a little further.
Some of David's organizations you may have heard of, some you probably haven't. A point worth noting is the attention he has devoted to these "policy-shaping" organizations, some of which he has held major positions in, others which he has founded. David got his feet wet working with the International Basic Economy Corporation, founded by his brother, Nelson. The IBEC established companies in a variety of fields in developing countries in attempts to be set up as a major business force when the local economies "kicked off." Realizing the enormous profit to be made in international trade was tied directly to the ability to influence foreign policy, David began to dig deeper into the political aspect. In 1947, he joined the board of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the first multinational think-tank, whose goal was to  promote cooperation between the nations of the world. He played a major role in moving the group's headquarters opposite the new UN building, in New York. Prior to his appointment as director of the Council on Foreign Relations in 1949, David worked with the CFR, influencing President Truman's "Marshall Plan," which rebuilt post-war Europe with American aid. The CFR was actually started with major funding from John D. Rockefeller, David's father. David later went on to become head of the nominating committee for future membership and eventually went on to become chairman. While chairman of the CFR, he formed The Trilateral Commission, an organization aimed at increasing cooperation between the United States, Europe, and Japan. The idea for the Trilateral Commission was brought before The Bilderberg Group at their 1972 meeting, where it was approved, although it met wide opposition from other sources.
So there's a little background on why David Rockefeller is such a key player in the international policy-making scene. I'll explain exactly what the CFR and the Trilateral Commission are shortly, but for now I want to get into one of David's more secretive groups that you might not have heard of: The Bilderberg Group.

Preface

I want to start this blog by assuring all readers of my credibility. I'm no conspiracy theorist. I'm no liberal nut-job; I'm no ultra-conservative paranoia case. I'm just a proud American who stumbled upon some troubling quotes from some powerful people, started digging and uncovered a giant threat to the freedoms we all take for granted. This is a large-scale, well-planned scheme that cannot go unnoticed by the American people or future generations are going to be in some deep, deep trouble.
What if I told you your vote doesn't count? What if I told you that you really don't have a say? Not because of an electoral college or a skewed tallying system, but because the true leaders of this country are never elected and operate blind from the public eye, meeting behind closed doors to dictate the policies and laws of our future. Sounds scary, but I'm here to warn you it didn't take much poking around to figure this one out--it's actually been pretty well-documented. I've been investigating in my spare time for the last few months and I'm starting to put some major pieces together. This blog documents the puzzle as it forms...
